About this board
Pontoon Owners Forum opened in September 2025. The big boating sites treat pontoons as the thing you buy when you give up on fishing, and the manufacturer groups on social media delete anything that sounds like a complaint. This is a small board where the tube talk gets its own room and nobody moderates for tone on behalf of a brand.
It is run by Ann P., who spent nineteen years behind the counter and then in the office at a marina on Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, and who now keeps books for two resorts and a plumber. She posts as mod_ann_p. Her own boat is a 1998 Crest with a 50 on the back that she refuses to sell. She reads the contact mail herself, usually on Sunday nights.
How it is paid for
The rules
- First post on any boat question gives the year, the make and model, the tube diameter and the motor. A 22 foot boat on twin 25 inch tubes and a 22 foot boat on 27s with strakes are not the same boat and the answers are not the same either.
- No selling. There is no classifieds board and there will not be one. Linking a public listing to make a point about price is fine.
- If you work at a dealer, a marina or an auction house, say so in the post. Nobody minds the trade being here, people mind being sold to without knowing it.
- Mods move and merge threads and will say why in the thread when they do it.
Buying reports get one more: put the price in. A report without a number gets a mod note asking for one.
What this is not
Not a dealer, not a marina, not a survey service, and not the owner's manual. People here are generous with numbers and some of those numbers are twelve years out of date. Check torque specs, capacity plates and service intervals against the book for your own hull and motor before you spend money or put people on the water.
Registration
Accounts are handed out by hand right now because the bots found the sign up form in the first week. Write to the address on the contact page, say what you run and roughly where, and you will get a login back.
